The Landmark NSW Country Cockatoos have been narrowly defeated in game two of their Fiji Development Tour, beaten 15-12 by reigning Sanyo Cup champions Nadroga at Sigatoka.
The Cockatoos ran into a stiff breeze in the first half and yet still managed to head into the break ahead 7-3 through a try to flyhalf Luke Sullivan.

Despite crossing again after half time through scrumhalf Paul Eliott sloppy finishing and some poor defence would hurt the visitors, who allowed the Fijian club champions – boasting three Fijian internationals in their lineup – back into the match with two tries of their own.

The Cockatoos were in the hunt right up until the finish, and could have won the match if it were not for an off-target day with the boot, goal kicker Elliott Tourle managing just one from four for the afternoon.

Meantime, Landmark NSW Country Cockatoos centre David Simpson has returned to Sydney following complications from a neck injury.

The Inverell player sustained the injury in the first game of the tour however didn’t present symptoms until three days after the event.

X-Rays in Fiji revealed some disc damage and he is currently in a stable condition at Royal North Shore Hospital.
