Coaching Workshops and Courses
The following workshops and courses are available:
Coaching Session Assistance
The NSWRU Training Department is available to run custom-designed sessions of coach education for individual clubs and school teams. We will assist you in running a session with your players either to target a specific deficiency, or for general purpose team training.
Please note this is not an opportunity to get us to run one of your sessions for you while you do something else – it is an opportunity to collaborate and find solutions to coaching issues that might be particular to your team.
Coach Education Workshop (CEW)
The NSWRU Training Department staff coordinates upon request ‘Coach Education Workshop’ sessions for junior and senior representative coaches throughout NSW. The workshops are tailored to suit the individual Association or Zone needs, and bring representative coaches “up-to-speed” on the latest ideas and techniques coming out of NSW and Australian Rugby High Performance Units (HPU).
Coaching Education Series (CES)
This course features an evening of up-to-date training concepts, techniques and activities to further develop your coaching. The CES is applicable to all levels of coaching, as it focuses on drills and skills, games and equipment to further develop your coaching.
Advanced Coaching Seminar (ACS)
The Advanced Coaching Seminar is primarily aimed at junior representative, open school age coaches and senior coaches. NSWRU believes part of the seminar’s attraction is that presenters are sourced from not only the professional rugby landscape but from other High Performance sporting bodies. These courses are run bi-annually, with featured presenters coming from either the Waratah or Wallaby coaching staff.
Advanced Coaching Program (ACP)
The ‘Advanced Coaching Program’ has been developed to provide an opportunity for selected coaches with potential to coach at a higher level to gain further education, knowledge and experience in the field of coaching. This will help bridge the gap between the current Level 2 and Level 3 accreditation courses.
The program will run for a 9-month period with a maximum of 12 coaches. During this time all selected coaches will be required to attend a number of education seminars, submit a number of assessments including one video taped session for a critical evaluation.
